The Impact and Implementation of Change Very briefly describe for your colleagues the most recent or influential change initiative you have been a part of. Now analyze it for its overall impact on the organization----was it implemented via a Project Management process? Was it intended to change the culture (how we do things around here) of the organization? If so, did it succeed? Was there one Change Agent or were there many who were intended to filter the changes throughout the organization? How disruptive was the process in the organization?

I am currently working in an organization which has physical stores located all over the city. Recently, it was affected by an increase in the number of online retailers opening their websites and conducting business online. therefore, the company decided to foreclose some of its locations to pay off debts accumulated and open its own online store to facilitate buying and selling with customers.

This required laying off employees working in physical stores while hiring staff to overlook technical details of the website, marketing of the website and the products and number of delivery men for delivering goods in the city.

As a manager of human resources, it was an uphill task as the employees working in the stores were not at fault but they had to be laid off due to organizational changes. In the end, the staff being laid off were compensated well for their services.

Next came the hiring, and recruiting the additional staff. It was a difficult task as there were a number of applications received and all of them had impeccable qualifications and experience. In the end, we chose people who had work experience in related fields and brought down the number of staff hired to 25.

The new staff was unfamiliar with the culture of the company and it was my duty to make them familiarize as well as help them in adjusting to the new job. Doing it fast was the key as I wanted the operations to be on the right track in the minimum amount of possible time as the business was already suffering losses in its physical stores.

After a month of training and another month of working for the organization, the staff adapted well to the company and the website was launched and marketed through different media vehicles. It received an enormous response and we are positive that the change will be able to drive the company back to growth and success in the industry.
