True, The consensus sequences for the DNA binding domain of homodimeric nuclear receptors are inverted repeats. Thyroid hormone receptor(TR) is a member of the nuclear hormone receptor family that recognizes and binds different classes of DNA response elements targets as a monomer, homo or heterooligomer. Homodimer TR DNA-binding domain form complex with an inverted repeat class of thyroid response element.

But in addition to the inverted repeats, there are direct repeats as well to which the DNA-binding domain of homodimeric nuclear receptors binds(For example, the homodimers of type I nuclear receptors binds to the inverted repeats but DNA binding domain of homodimers of type III nuclear receptors binds to the direct repeats instead of inverted repeats of hormone response element). Hence, the statement is not completely true.
