Advanced technology has enabled flexibility in the management of the supply chain. The growth and development of new technology has greatly facilitated close collaboration among supply chain partners. It's easier for an company to have a centralized information control center compared with the Porte five competitive forces model. According to Edwin Cheng, centralized management leads to effective coordination and monitoring. This helps to improve the competitive edge of other competitors.

Information sharing encourages the building of better relationships between trading partners. This should boost awareness of the challenge faced by new entrants to replacing goods or services on the market. This will also increase the capacity of customers and suppliers to negotiate. Information's are used to facilitate resource sharing within supply chains. It encourages the establishment of better relationships among trading partners to optimize profits and to manage the overall operation of the value chain.
