Problems and limitations of publicity-based relations are as follows:

  • Can be misguiding and confusing. Customers may be often misguided to purchase products which may not suffice their expectations.
  • Additional costs are incurred while building and improving relations for publicity
  • Can be deceptive publicity for low quality products. Certain organizations use this form of advertising technique to falsely promote their inferior products and cheat the customers.
  • May undermine competitors' products, which can cause negativity in the market.
  • Marketers may loose control over the spread of news. The information may spread like a wild-fire with no boundaries and would be beyond any one's control.
  • Message may not be conveyed in favor of the product/brand
