Non random mating can increase or decrease the genetic variations. Inbreeding is the type of non random mating that serves to reduce the genetic variations while out breeding is the non random mating that increases genetic variations by addition of new genes.

Stabilizing selection always reduces genetic diversity as it favors one particular trait. Likewise, natural selection also reduces genetic diversity by favoring some particular genes. Genetic drift reduces genetic variations by some chance event.
