Answer #1

The 2 possible questions could be:

Q1) Do you watch NBA Basketball?
Q2) Do you watch MLB Baseball?

These 2 questions will suffice the experiment. After collecting data from individuals, form the table as shown here.

The condition for independence would be the following :

(a/a+b) = (a+c)/(a+c+b+d)

(c/c+d) =(a+c)/(a+c+b+d)

(a/a+c)= (a+b)/(a+c+b+d)

(b/b+d) = (a+b)/(a+c+b+d)

If any one of these conditions is violated then the 2 variables are not independent!

Write a survey question that can be answered by yes or no. Example: Is there enough shopping locations in your hometown? Make a guess about the proportion of people that will answer “yes” BEFORE you conduct the survey. Ask at least 30 people for their response to your question. Report your results as follows. Write your question. Do you like candy corn? What was your guess about the “yes” response BEFORE you conducted the survey? This becomes your claim. I...

    6. Engagement Activity: The t Test for Two Related Samples In the last chapter, you were introduced to Professor Ken Bonanno's Statistical Methods in Psychology class, where students are asked to complete a research study as a part of the semester-long course. Many of his students' research questions could be asked using the independent-measures t test, but there are other approaches, which will be explored in this chapter. Click the following topics to see some sample questions asked by Professor Bonanno's students....

imagine we wanted to look a predictors of popularity of famous sports people. We might hypothesize that the type of sport played would predict how popular the sports person was. Imagine we recruited 100 participants and asked them to rate out of 10(10 = They are the best sports person in the world, 0 = They are the worst sports person in the world) how much they liked 100 famous sports people from 10 different types of sports ( 10...

Chi-Squared In this assignment you will conduct hypothesis testing for Chi-Squared problems for both goodness of fit and independence-you will be given two Chi-Squared problems. For the Chi squared goodness of fit problem you need to: (1) state the populations and hypotheses; (2) solve for a Chi-squared goodness of fit test and show your work; (3) compute the answer using the SPSS program and paste the output information; (4) state the answer using proper APA format; (5) answer the question....
