Objective: To create a health promotion program for a priority population (audience).

Identifying the population and health topic

Age group of Adolescents / Students

Most of the Children depend upon their parents for their diet needs and choices. They develop taste for the kind of foods they taste as infants’ children teenagers & adolescents and this affects their adulthood.

Therefore, developing the taste of the Greens right from the young age is imperative and the knowledge of the advantages of Eating the Greens should be part of the biological/anatomy subject that student’s study at school. The co-relation of the consumption of Greens with the functioning of the anatomy is needed to be emphasized to the Students in order to create the awareness of the proposed Health Promotion Program.

A General Questionnaire circulated In a sample Student Group comprising of atleast 20% of the total count of Students in particular School, University &/or Community, will give a fair idea of the entire priority population to be identified for this Program.

Our Priority Population can be defined by (a) Demographics such as age, gender, rate/ethnicity, education or grade level. By (b) Geographic region such as state or a community. By (c) Locatio in which the priority population can be reached such as a school or college or university.

Assess the needs of the priority population

Conducting Quiz Programs with rewards as initial ice breaker with students of various ethnicity and culture and grade achievers. This will help to pin point the niche for the Health Promotion Program. To determine the percentage of Green Lovers & Haters, as well as those eating greens rarely and those who love but are deprived of it whereas those you cannot afford it and so on.

Sample of Breakfast Bars with and without greens to be distributed and held a after eating comment section to see reactions of first-time green tasters and against those who are fans of Greens.

Comments on what is tasty and edible and what is not whereas which bar is better than what may give a fair idea of the requirement of the Students tastes.

Medical histories of these students may also be checked for deficiencies and hence determine their needs of the greens accordingly to the conditions.

A Standard Assessment worksheet comprising of the following questions need be answered to accurately assess the priority population

1. Priority Health Issues Identified

2. Disparities among demographic factors

3. Geographic Disparities identified

4. The Niche of the Priority Population we intend to plan an intervention

5. The Sub Groups & Sample Groups of the Priority Population

6. The number of Priority Population and the count in their sub groups

7. Share Social & Cultural Characteristics of the Priority Population

Set the goals and objectives for the program

The Goal is to promote Eating Greens among today’s Students and convert their habits from Green Haters to Green Eaters.

How will the goals and objectives be achieved

This is possible by doing the following

          Assessing the needs of the Students via questionnaire and quiz as suggested above to determine the percentage of nutritional values lacking & required to be boosted across the various communities.

          Setting a percentage of increase in the existing Green Eaters and conversion of a certain percentage of Green Haters.

          Easily accessible & in more varieties Snack Foods, Bites & Pops made from plants & greens to replace the presently available in the market.

          Knowledge of importance of the nutritional value of various a greens is imparted much more easily and user friendly to be adapted by the popular audience.

Implement the intervention

Describe how will you implement the interventions

A six step implementation guide needs to be followed

Identify Root Causes:      Example What is the reason to hate the Greens

Develop Objectives and Activities:    Members of the Group bring out to have them take the greens in an informal way so they like the taste.

Selection Criteria: Select the particular audience on whom criteria to be applied.

Apply Selection Criteria: Supervisors or trained personnel will assist in application of the criteria.

Rate & Select Intervention Alternatives: To interchange the Criteria applied and see better or difference results

Plan & Implement Interventions: Proceed with implementation with a plan based on the Selected & Applied Criteria

Monitor & Evaluate Interventions.: Duration to be specified for the implementation to evaluate if the interventions are successful and lasting to bring about the change in behavior and eating habits
