Glucose could be transported using active as well as passive transport. To transport glucose from on side of the membrane to other is by facilitated diffusion, where no energy is used the energy is provided by the concentration gradient across the membrane, that is from higher concentrated extracellular glucose to lower concentrated intracell glucose. the carrier proteins in the membrane carries the glucose from one side to other. The two kinds of proteins that support the movement of glucose to the cell are Channel proteins and Carrier proteins. carrier protein changes its shape and resets after the molecule is passed so the time for transport is less for channel protein.
