Answer #1

Heart burn, also known as GERD can be treated by over the counter medicine, which actually reduces the acidity in the stomach and acidity is produced by secretion of HCl in the stomach and this HCl is needed for limiting microbial activity and activation of pepsinogen to pepsin (for protein digestion in the stomach). HCl is produced by parietal cells present in the stomach wall. So these over the counter medicines act on parietal cells, which reducing acid secretion in the stomach.

Correct Answer: Parietal cells
