draw a diagram the parts of alternation of generation; plant stages (gametophyte & sporophyte), diploid, haploid, mitosis, meiosis, spore and gamete release, fertilization
This is the life cycle of a gymnosperm. It also shows alternation of generation. Life cycle of bryophytes and pteridophytes and angiosperms also show alternation of generation.
the life cycle of a plant starts with a diploid sporophyte. It has sporangium which contains diploid spores. It undergoes meiosis to give rise to haploid spores. These spores germinate in the presence of suitable conditions to give rise to haploid gametophyte. The gametophyte gives rise to male and female gamete. Male gamete is called as sperm and female gamete is called as egg. Both of them are released from two different gametophyte. They fertilizers to form a diploid zygote. Zygote is the first cell of sporophytic or diploid generation. It undergoes mitosis to form sporophyte and the cycle continues.

In the alternation of generations lifecycle in plants... A. There is a diploid multicellular phase (sporophyte) and haploid multicellular phase (gametophyte) The zygote undergoes mitosis to form a multicellular embryo. Meiosis and syngamy both occur.

Describe the complete life cycle of non vascular plants (Bryophyta) and explain the process of alternation of generation in their sexual reproduction.Include but not limited to; gametophyte, sporophyte, zygote formation, diploid and haploid stages, and spore formation.
Sketch the lifecycle of a bryophyte (alternation of generations). Place the following labels on the sketch: sporophyte, gametophyte, gametes, spores, mitosis, meiosis, diploid, haploid, fertilization, zygote. Sporophytes are attached to which sex gametophyte? _______________________ Are spores haploid or diploid? ______________________ Which life form, gametophyte or sporophyte, undergoes meiosis? ______________________ In mosses (and all bryophytes), which is the dominant life form, sporophyte or gametophyte? ____________________ A) Is the gametophyte of the fern directly protected by the sporophyte?
