What are five important things a team member must do to be a good team member?
How do you repair a stalled team?
For an individual to become a better member of the team, the understanding of the central needs would be necessary. This means that the collective vision of the team should be inclined with the need of the individuals in order to bring mutuality to the table. To be a better member, one must communicate openly transparently, provide the necessary feedback and ask for help whenever necessary. It is also valuable to have a clear sense of the goal, proper division of work between the individuals and the presence of both emotional intelligence and synergy, in order for any individual to become a better part of any group or team.
To repair a stalled team, we need to look at their past
performance to understand the reason where the team lacks. There
can be a number of reasons for the lack of growth which can be
attributed to internal conflicts, the mismatch between the
objectives and present skillset and even lack of leadership and
therefore, can be addressed by bringing in micro-changes gradually.
Radical changes would first of all stall any form of progress by
bringing in disruption of productivity. We would first need to
monitor what is causing the stall and change the member/s
appropriately. We can also bring in new members with varied
skillets in order to both bring a fresh perspective to the table
and to bring in more energy which can be useful in bringing some
momentum back into the group.
