In theory are self-driving cars great? Can their software errors be deadly as well?
Software cars in my opinion are not as great as much we think them they are. They have so much drawbacks. One of the biggest is that, they will result in loss of a huge number of jobs as technology will replace them. One of the good thing is that, it results in huge advancement in technology, but at what cost.
They might seem great and all and the algorithms are developed by some great minds. But even a small error or bug could result in huge damage to life or property. Suppose a passenger is travelling in a self driving car on the mountain area and some bug occurs and there is no one to control and the car fells into the depth in the mountain and the man will die or maybe the car could hit another car or truck due to some bug. With a software, we can never be 100% sure.

Let’s think about the future. Self driving cars are already here; robotics proliferate in manufacturing. Artificial intelligence is coming. As each of these things is perfected and injected into society, the long-run aggregate supply curve will shift left. That’s fantastic because it means our potential is great. But the downside of the efficiencies is employment. But will employment move with it. If a firm can replace 1,000 employees with artificial intelligence it has increased its efficiency. Will we need truck...
In class we discussed several issues with self-driving cars. Indeed, many of you used this for the ethical case study assignment. Self driving cars may be faced with choices where there is no single positive outcome (kili/injure the driver or the pedestrian or risk/gamble injuring a bystander). Attempt to create an algorithms in a few sentences (recall that an algorithm is simply a detailed sequence of steps, as unambiguous and concise as possible), one for each of the following scenarios:...
many think that the introduction of self-driving cars will disrupt the job market for drivers. Discuss in 500 words your opinion on what you think of the disruptive capacity of the gig economy on the labor market
You're driving your new Corvette convertible and can clearly hear other cars driving nearby. One of these cars honks their horn and your car, with its apps and sensors, displays the horn sound as 760Hz. Your Corvette also registers the car as a Mustang with a car horn of 795Hz. You are stopped at a stop light when their horn blares. Another of your Corvette apps measures the air temperature to be 26°C. a) What is the speed of sound...
Parents of teenagers can join one organization that will issue bumper stickers for the teenagers’ cars. Anyone who sees the bumper stickers can call the number to report the teenager’s driving behaviors. Please answer the following questions: For the Expectancy Theory: (1) What are the THREE main components of the theory? (9 points) (2) How are you going to use the theory to motivate good driving behaviors of the teenagers by utilizing the Bumper Sticker Program? Please give 1 example....
Part 1. A company tested their version of the self driving car. It found that the number of errors/accidents per 100 cars had the following probability distribution: x P(x) 0 0.15 1 0.2 2 0.1 3 0.55 Find the standard deviation of this probability distribution. Round your answer to 2 decimal places. PART 2 The mean weight of a blue whale is 175 pounds and the standard deviation is 20. A blue whale that is being researched by scientists weights...
