3) End the main part of your persuasive letter by stating what you would like to see happen, your proposed solution to the problem, or the approach you favor to address the issue.

- What can you, as an ecologist, suggest could be done to ameliorate the problem of the invasive carp? Should the locks be closed or not? Should more electric fences be built?

- Explain why you think the advice you are providing is the appropriate one. What supporting evidence do you have for your argument? That is, is there a scientific explanation that can support your choice? What are the possible consequences of not following what you suggest?

Answer #1

Invasive species are those that are not native to the particular ecosystem but has overtaken the native species in population by interspecies competition. These invasive species alters the food web in a great way that it alters the structure of the ecosystem.

Asian carp is a particular group of fish species introduced into the mainland United States. Asian carp is native of Asian countries. When introduced into freshwater lakes, it replaced the native fish species which greatly reduced their number.

Asian carp problem has to be tackled in an effective and scientific way. It can be controlled from spreading to other areas by constructing fences around the particular area. Carpicides like rotenone will help in the control of growth and multiplication of carp population. Other methods like electrification and passing of sound waves will scare them and prevents from further migration.
