If a specific brand is used in mainstream films or television shows for its promotional purpose, it is called product placement. It is a pure marketing technique evolved decades ago in the 19th century. Products from all categories such as automobiles, food and beverages, electronic gadgets are widely used for this marketing technique.

As films and television shows remain the biggest entertainers of common people, this product placement technique is highly successful from the beginning. It attracts millions of viewers, as a result, the brand name of the company becomes more and more popular finally benefits the marketing of the product.

One of the best examples of product placement in the movie is the one used in CASTAWAY movie where the FedEx, the delivery company comes in major part of the film. Based on the use, we can divide the product placement technique into two. Basic and advanced. In basic mode, the product may appear in its logo only, but in advanced mode, the product name itself mentioned in the film or show. Now here in this advanced era of technologies, marketers creatively used product placement for promoting their products.
