Another interesting equilibrium system is that between the polyatomic ions chromate, CrO42-, and dichromate, Cr2O72-. In an acidic environment (high H3O+), the chromate will react to form dichromate ion. Barium will react with chromate, but NOT dichromate, to form an insoluble precipitate.

2 CrO42- (aq, yellow) + 2 H3O+ (aq) <---> Cr2O72- (aq, orange) + 2 H2O (l)

Describe and explain how the chemical equilibrium will shift and what changes you would observe under the following scenarios:

a) Addition of BaCL2 (aq)

b) Increase in pressure

c) Increase in volume

d) Addition of catalyst

e) Addition of NaNO3 (aq)

f) Increase in temperature

    My question is #2 for the reaction Fe3+ (aq) + SCN- (aq) FeSCN2+ (aq). The goal is to predict the color change (darker or lighter) for test tubes 2-8. I have attached the supplemental sheets given to help with the problem. The test tubes 2-8 are being manipulated either by temperature or things being added which can be seen by one of the pictures. 2. For reaction "UCTIONS are increased by the same amount.
