Similarly, it is safe to assume homogeneity of variance unless it is clearly indicated otherwise. Do not try to analyze whether or not the experiment is tenable or practical or flawless. This is not your concern right now. Almost all of the below were written by students in this class.

7.         Judith wants to test whether or not people in Germany drink more than five beers a week. [Here’s a fact that is not a part of the question. It is only here for the curious. Germany is tied with Austria for third place in beer consumption at 104.7 liters per person.]

8.         Andrea wants to know if drinking milk affects amount of growth (in height). He measures how many ounces people drink per week and how much they grow in a year. He wants to know if the effect is significant.

9.         David wants to measure UC’s geographical knowledge. Specifically, he wants to know if there is a difference between campuses. He measures this by showing people a map of Europe and seeing whether or not they can tell her where Moravia is. The four UCs he tests are UCD, UCR, UCI, and UCSC.
