Performance appraisal is defined as the process of tracking and judging the performance of the employees across the job and tasks they have performed and rewarding their contributions in the organization. It can be a semi-annual, and/or annual task. The purposes of performance appraisal are:

i. Providing feedback to employees about their work or performance,

ii. Appreciating them for the goals they have achieved,

iii. Guiding them on where they have lagged behind, and

iv. Giving them monetary (salary hike) or non-monetray (promotion) benefits for their achievement if applicable.
