Indian economic system has come a long way ever since it opened up its market to foreign investment. Today, it is a booming economy which partners with almost every developed nation in business. The opportunities in India are
(i) Access to a huge pool of educated English speaking young population which is available at a fraction of cost back home in a developed nation.
(ii) Formidable infrastructure, inter - town connectivity, communication, technology friendly system and civic amenities for any kind of business. Access to high quality technological and management resources, high quality and cost effective education / training and healthcare is another plus point.
(iii) Supportive economic policies of the government that makes sense to invest.
(iv) Access to a huge market that s buoyed by the economic growth and rising middle class.
(v) Tolerant ideology and relatively peace loving people who have a great cultural tradition, which minimises risks of ethnic conflicts
(vi) A stable elected government under world's largest democracy.
Threats-
(i) India is still a developing economy and has its own teething problems. Bureaucracy has been transformed but still, some degree of red tapism stills exists, and ease of establish a business is not as good as in a developed economy. One might get frustrated at a pace with which system works.
(ii) Legal and enforcement system needs to improve a lot. With overburdened judicial system and isolated cases of law and order problems, ride can not be as smooth as in a developed nation.
(iii) Like subcontinent, India has also seen terrorist attacks and factional clashes over past years. With its origin in religious fanaticism, it has potential of causing risk for any new coming company, particularly from western countries.
