Answer #1

It can be said that asking questions to an interviewer is not a common thing but it has many advantages to ask questions while giving an interview. It would help to make the simple question and answer interview into a formal conversation and can make the interviewer understand that how much interested I am in the company.

1) How did you get your start in this industry? Why do you stay?

If I am genuinely interested in the job then I would ask this question to show how much interested I am in the job position. The interviewer would be really interested to give the job to the enthusiastic person. Also, by aksing this question I may able to get to know the interviewer's experience in the company which can give me an idea regarding the growth opportunities for career. Asking this type of questions may lead to some valuable information which may not be given in job description. Interviewer may disclose some growth opportunities to me which would help me in long term success.

2) What keeps you up at night? What’s your biggest worry?

Besides opportunities, I may need to know what kind of challenges I might face if I join this company. It would also let know whether the company is actually growing or not. Understanding the thought process of the employer is always a good way to know whether it would bother my path or not. In this case, I might get to know some cons of this company which may put barrier in my career development path. It shows my opportunity from the career advancement policy in the company.

3) What’s your (or my future boss’) leadership style?

By asking this question, I may able to understand two things - the culture of the company and whether I would be able to fit into the company. Besides, it would also show that I am quite smart as I am thinking of the future. Different leadership styles leads to different culture in an organization which may not suit everyone. If the interviewer is interested to answer this type of question then I would guess that the company has a positive work culture and the employers value and understand the employees.

Hope this helps :)
