Answer #1

Implantable sensors are used to measure the certain parameters in the body for diagnostic purpose for long time. For example measuring intracranial pressure(ICP) in the hydrocephalic patient. It is very difficult to measure ICP invasively every time. So that implantable sensors are best choice for measuring the ICP.

But some times these sensors can be hampered by drifts, which degrades measurement accuracy over time.

Drift is the driving force or pressure due to the environmental factors.

The major sources of drift in implantable sensors are related to the environmental factors, in particular absorption of moisture and bodily fluids by the material used in the sensor’s packaging.

So that low drift is an important specification for implantable sensors.
