Demographics refer to the visible or apparent attribute of an individual such as race, age, gender, geographic location, origin, etc. On the other hand, psychographic refers the thought process of the individual such as behavior, attitude, habits, cognitive ability, IQ, etc.

Naturally depending on the demography of a person, their psychograph could be impacted and as a result, it is important to consider the demography of a person first in segmenting the audiences. In other words, demography can be a factor to psychograph but not the other way around.

Due to this, first we must identify the target demography and then approach the psychographic segmentation in order to create our persuasive message.
