Answer #1

Introduction- During 2017 and 2018, famous cancer researcher, Dr. Baselga, did not follow the rules set by the AACR when he was the president of the group. The issue was raised when top cancer specialists failed to disclose payments from drug and health care companies in recent years.

Summary- Dr. Jose Baselga is a famous figure in the area of cancer research and treatment in the world, and chief medical officer at MSK cancer center in New York. According to the analysis by ProPublica, a non-governmental organization and NY times, he did not follow the norms and regulations of the American Association for Cancer Research when he was leading the group as a president. Dr. Baselga is a very famous medical researcher and he has many tie-ups with emerging and established companies in the area of pharmaceutical and cancer research. He was working for many famous journals and research agencies with paid service but he did not disclose all his payments and tie-ups during self-disclosure. The spokesperson of MSK said that Dr. Baselga had informed the hospital in a proper way about his outside work with industries but he had never disclosed his work with journals while Dr. Baselga described this situation as an unintentional mistake.

Response- Ethically, the responsibility of Dr. Baselga is more than other medical researchers because of his fame and trust of people on him but his position and work does not allow anyone to accuse him in a hypothetically way. In my opinion, the note should be inspected and analyze carefully to see the intention of Dr. Baselga, if he had not disclosed his relationships intentionally, he should to treated as a normal medical researcher.
