Social audit refers to reviewing the code of conduct, policies, behaviors of employers and employees towards the social responsibility that company shows with regards to the social welfare. It consist of reviewing various programs conducted by the company such as charitable events, environmental impacts, non discriminatory practices, having diverse staff, employees volunteering for social cause etc.
The 5 steps involved in social audit are :
a. Framework regarding the companies mission, objectives, activities conducted etc are been prepared so as to identify and define the scope of social audit.
b. Personal responsibilities related to the audit is been given individually while defining what to audit.
c. In the planning stage, various stakeholders, methodology, approaches are been identified and defined along with engaging the government in the audit.
d. Next is the implementation stage, here audit is conducted while the information is collected and analyzed to know the finding of the audit.
e. In the closing stage follow ups with the stakeholders, government officials are conducted.
