Suppose you saw a restaurant waiter accidentally spill some table salt, NaCl, onto the restaurant floor. To clean it up, he added some dish detergent to water and used that solution to clean up the spill. Do you think this was an effective way to clean up the NaCl spill? Was it helpful to add detergent?
