Answer #1

Answer:- two components that are common to all four DNA nucleotide are deoxyribose sugar and phosphate group but one component which is differ in all four DNA nucleotide is nitrogenous bases.

For nucleotide adenosine, components are - deoxyribose sugar , phosphate group which are common to all nucleotide but adenine as nitrogenous base is specific for adenosine.

For guanosine , specific component is nitrogenous base guanine and deoxyribose sugar and phosphate is common to all four.

For thymidine:- specific component is thymine and sugar and phosphate group is similar.

For cytidine :- specific component is cytosine and deoxyribose sugar and phosphate group is common .

In a random sample of 80 components of a certain type, 4 are found to be defective. (a) Give a point estimate of the proportion of all such components that are not defective. (b) A system is to be constructed by randomly selecting two of these components and connecting them in series, as shown here. The series connection implies that the system will function if and only if neither component is defective (i.e., both components work properly). Estimate the proportion...

Transcription is the process of rewriting DNA. DNA molecules are made from 4 different nucleotides which acts as building blocks. These building blocks are adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine. When put together in different chemical combinations they become directions for the functions of the cell molecules which are primarily proteins. When a certain protein is needed, the RNA polymerase enzyme will find the gene for that particular protein and makes an RNA copy of it. DNA and RNA have similar...

You are studying the regulatory DNA of a mouse gene expressed in developing heart, liver, and lung tissue. Your preliminary work has shown that heart and lung expression of this gene is controlled by a short fragment of DNA just upstream of the promoter. Based on this result, you decide to investigate this region further to understand its function. Part A You decide to compare this sequence to the regulatory DNA of the same gene found in rats and humans....

Jackson produces all the components necessary for the production of the cycles except for one (a carburetor). This component is purchased from two local suppliers: Harvey Parts and Curtis, Inc. Harvey sells the component for $63 per unit, while Curtis sells the same component for $56. Because of the lower price, Jackson purchases 75 percent of its components from Curtis Jackson purchases the remaining 25 percent from Harvey to ensure an...
