Marvel Entertainment’s international strategy is based on the use of licensing model for all forms of media. The company uses licensing model for movies, for television shows, as well as for its merchandises like clothing, school supplies and other consumer products. This international strategy of Marvel has enabled it to expand across the globe in a systematic and tangible manner and in a manner that ensures that its costs are well under control. Another important advantage of this international strategy being used by Marvel was that it leads to maximization of exposure for its brands in different parts of the world and that too in a short span of time.
The company’s alliance/joint venture strategy was to form alliances in such a manner that it able to optimally leverage its leadership position in the superhero genre and develop alternate and new revenue streams for itself. For instance Marvel formed an alliance with Activision for video game licensing.
