Sociology economic status has always played a very important role in the manner in which people would be affected. SES would not only be consisting of the income of a person, but, would also be consisting their educational levels, their occupational prestige as well as the social class of a person.
Through sociology economic status, the quality of life that a person has would be considered. This would also be including the privileges there a person would be getting along with the opportunities that the obtain. Poverty alone cannot be considered as one of the factors affecting the sociology economic status, but, it does take shape through the psychosocial as well as physical stressors.
Also, SES would be predicting the manner in which the psychological and physical health of a person would be affected.
As we are aware, there is a tremendous increase in the population of older adults in the United States. 13% of the population consisting of individuals who are 65 years or older. This increase in age group of the individuals also comes along with the economic stability of s person.
The quality of care that an older adult would be receiving, is dependent on their SES. Almost 14.6% of this population is below the poverty threshold. Also, financial standings are affected by the death of spouse as well as health declines. As a result, the older adults with low income, stand at great disadvantages.
With time, there is a risk in the manner in which the cost of living would be increasing. Also, the health care quality is found to be below standard. Also, it is observed that the working adults would not be mainitaing their employment status if their health would continue to decline.
The older adults with lower SES are found to be lonely and are known to be at lower levels of functional decline. Also, such people are not able to afford proper food as well as nutrition or even the medications that are being prescribed to them.
Further, the cars of these individuals is declining due to the increasing costs, and rise in life expectancies. Mental issues pose another threat to the life of such individuals.
Hence, with higher SES, the care, food and nutrition of these older adults are taken care of in a proper manner and maintained properly.
