electronic configuration of silicon=[Ne] 3s2 3p2

it can be seen that in silicon valence electrons are more far away from nucleus than in carbon and in case of silicon shielding by inner electrons will be high.

Due to this difference in force, the atomic radius of silicon is __larger__________ than that of carbon.

atomic radius of carbon=70 picometer

atomic radius of silicon=210 picometer
