How does binge- eating disorder differ from anorexia and bulimia ? In what ways is it similar to substance abuse .

In Binge-eating disorder an individual consumes large quantity of food and it becomes uncontrolled for them to stop. An individual is embarrassed about food and restrict himself from stopping. A person with binge- eating order may develop cardiovascular disease.

In case of Anorexia Nervosa an individual is typically concerned about gaining weight and had an unrealistic perception of body image. They limit their food circle in fear of gaining weight and therefore they may often develop brain disease, bone loss and various types of heart disease.

And, in case of Bulimia Nervosa an individual overeats a large quantity of food within an interval of time ( like in case of binge-eating) but then follow purging in order to get rid of the consume food which may include vomiting or cathartic.

Therefore among three of this disorder binge eating refers to overeating excessive food whereas Bulimia Nervosa refers to over eating and then follow purging in order to maintain body image or shape and in case of Anorexia Nervosa people eats but in less quantity in fear of getting overweight.

Bulimia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa, Binge-eating disorder are similar to substance abuse because they all poses a higher risk of health damage as in both the cases either consuming excessive food or in a less quantity our health can be damage because our body needs to thrive on certain quantity of food to work, fight with the external disease and keeps our body fit in a good and regular shape. Irregularity in food circle may give rise to several gastrointestinal problems, severe dehydration, and heart difficulties resulting in damaging of organs, bone loss, heart difficulties and overweight may leads to intense feelings of guilt and embarrassment. So all these three are inter-related or co- related to food disorder, irregularity in food circle.
