TEXAS GOVERNMENT

Develop a thesis either that this attitude and value is reflective of Texas and why or not reflective of Texas and why? Please focus on the “love affair” aspect of this statement . Texas certainly has one of the less restrictive gun ownership and use laws in the U.S. but this is more than just access but reflects values of use and possession. Also legislation allowing ownership and carry and even use have been introduced, passed or come near to passage in the Texas State Legislature (just recently a law to allow carrying firearms on campus passed) .

Answer #1

There are many people who die of gun shots in USA every year.A statistical survey revealed that the number of people having guns belong to the young generation and are adolescents. There are many states where the possession of gun is inhibited like Chicago and Columbia but it is still dominant in the states like Texas where a law was passed in the parliament that people can keep guns by opting for a gun licence. There are various laws which govern the possessing of guns by the common people in the society like:

  • there are various conditions which should be defined while possessing guns.
  • the background history, religion and race of the person should be defined.
  • the basis of keeping the gun should be defined.
  • restriction on carrying the guns in the open public should be regulated and restricted.

There are federal laws which prohibit the possession of arms by criminals and fugitives in the society. It also prohibits the sales of arms and guns to people who are mentally unfit, have intake of banned narcotic substances and those who indulge in domestic violence are prohibited from using weapons. The minimum age for possession of arms is 21 years for male. The perpetrators and criminal offenders are prohibited from the possession of guns as it leads to mass destruction and criminal behavior in the society. There are more chances of a crime by a person who has been previously accused of crime in the society as compared to crime by persons for the first time.Federal law prohibits the sales of guns for criminals and serious offenders in the society. Brady law bill was passed which requires a background check of the source from where the gun was bought. There is a licensing authority before the purchase of a gun with approval from the governing guns purchase authority. Brady law is insufficient in situations where previously criminals acquire guns without proper approval from the gun approving authority. The Firearm Owner Protection Act of 1986 decreased the penalty for violation of the gun laws for criminals and limitation of the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol and Firearms and increased standards for the prosecution of the gun sellers with lack of authority for the deals in guns. Texas has an acquisition of large capacity magazines with arms and ammunition which led to mass shootings leading to the death of people.
