Consider this question: what is the probability that 5 people out of a group of 20 are left handed if 10% of the population is left handed? Explain why this situation does not fit a hypergeometric model. Rewrite the question so that you can use a hypergeometric distribution.

Hypergeometric distribution is used under these conditions:

(a) Total number of items (population) is fixed.

(b) Sample size (number of trials) is a portion of the population.

(c) Probability of success changes after each trial.

In the given problem, conditions (a) and (c) are not satisfied. Therefore, hypergeometric distribution can't be used

For using hypergeometric distribution, the problem can be reworded as follows:

There are 100 people in a group of whom 10 are left-handed. What is the probability that 5 people out of a sample of 20 are left handed?
