Yes I agree that someone can own intellectual property.

If copyright laws did not protect intellectual property then people will start copy the original content without any permission and also will sell them at low prices which completely affect the given creative industries.

If some software industry create the software and if the copyright law does not protect its intellectual property then the company will not own that software and people from outside the company can buy the software in low prices and without the knowledge of owner.
