Find the linear mass density of the segment of the string.

In our lab we had a string. A portion of it was stretched and on one end was a vibrating thing that created waves in the string. Here's the data.

Mass of entire string: 12.43g

Mass of segment of string that waves were made on: UNKNOWN

Length of entire string: 294.34 cm

Length of segment of string that waves were made on: 59.10 cm (when it was unstretched)

I thought that to get the answer I would put the entire string and segment of string on a ratio and try to solve for the mass of segment of string. However, I keep getting a wrong answer. Correct answer should be near .02858 g/cm. This is the number I got when i solved from a trendline equation gathered from the experiment on the computer.

other information that I think is not necessary:

length of segment of string stretched: 79.90 cm

Resonance (1 antinode) was at 26HZ, 2 antinodes at 52 HZ, 3 at 78Hz, 4 at 105, 5 at 130, 6 at 156, 7 at 181Hz.

hanging mass on other side of string that was stretching it out was 499.6 grams.

Please answer question #3 A string with a total length of 270.8 0.05 cm has a total mass of 12.0 t0.1g. It is fixed at one end and stretched between that end and a pulley, two points that are 159.6 t0.05 cm apart, by hanging a mass of 200.0 t0.1 g. When the string is removed from the hanging mass, that portion of the string that was between the two fixed points is 145.0 t0.05 cm. From the above information...
