Advocacy: It refers to arguing or pleading in favor of something like a cause, policy, interests or the myriad of other issues that affects people everyday.

For example, you meet with a government official to address how climate change is affecting the environment and deteriorating the overall quality of life.

Lobbying: It is an attempt to influence a politician or prominent public figure on an issue. It is further divided into:

1. Direct lobbying: Attempting to influence legislation, existing or new, through communication with a government representative who has a say in legislation.
2. Grassroots lobbying: Attempts to mobilize the general public on an issue by asking the general public to contact their legislators.

For example, you create an online petition asking members of your organization (direct) or the public (grassroots) asking them to support or oppose a legislation.
