What happens to the acceleration and velocity of an Apache helicopter when it fires a rocket-propelled missile at an enemy tank in front of it? How about the torque exerted by the missile? After launching a missile, will the helicopter's speed be faster, slower, or stay same? Does the pilot have to correct for pitch, yaw, or roll? Provide your reasoning. What parameters would you need to figure those accelerations?

Answer #1

While firing missile Apache helicopter slows down because of the reaction force due to missile on helicopter which give backward acceleration to it and it will also produce couple due to firing of missile and in order to balance it missile from opposite side is fired simultaneously other wise helicopter will yaw and pilot have to adjust this yaw.
