answer-

I would say The use of Big data and predictive analytics to identify people who have potential to something wrong and then punish them for that action which actually they did not commit is completely wrong. This shows that Big data have downside also because When data and analytics is used to punish people for crimes which they have not done then it is violation of thier human rights.

I am saying this because such big data and analytics would require gathering and storing then analyzing the personal data of such people like where they are going, sleeping, eating, watching online, searching etc. After big data and machine learning is just technology which has its own limitation and errors.

Let us suppose that I am doing a research on how to build a Bomb and chemical engineering behind it for project so i would be doing different research online as well as offline. if big data based on my actions predict that i have intetion to actually build a chemical bomb and law punish for me for that. This is completely unethical and illegal as it violates my human rights, free will and privacy.

CUKIER himself said in his video that potential for punishment based on predictions is dark side of big data.He referenced the movie Minority report because the movie is based on this theme where person committed no crime but government is behind that person.

Many people would say this is good side where government can take down many crimes but on the other hand, there could be people who are innocent also our US constitution says that person is innocent until proven guilty so Law can not decide who is innocent or guilty based on what machine says.
