A concave shaving mirror has a radius of curvature of +30.7 cm. It is positioned so that the (upright) image of a man's face is 3.20 times the size of the face. How far is the mirror from the face?
As we know that;
Here,
= R= 30.7 cm
= f= 30.7/2= 15.35 cm
= m= 3.20
Then,
= m= -v/u
= v= -3.20*u
Then,
= 1/f= 1/u+1/v
So,
= 1/15.35=1/u+1/-3.2u
= 1/15.35=1/u(1-1/3.2)
= u= 15.35*(1-1/3.2)
= u= 10.5531 cm
