In your own words, define M-Commerce. How does it effect E-Commerce? What is your experience with M-Commerce? Is it important for providers of goods and services to engage in M-Commerce? Why or why not?
M-Commerce refers to buying and selling of goods through wireless handheld devices like mobile.
E-commerce refers to transactions done using electronic systems such as internet. It has limited mobility as the users require a desktop or laptop to log in. While m-commerce has much higher mobility as user carry their mobile in their pockets with them everywhere. The usage of m-commerce platform also tends to be simpler than e-commerce.
My experience with m-commerce has been a great one. I usually depend on this for most of my transactions as it is extremely convenient and user friendly. For example, buying on amazon through e-commerce would require me to open my laptop, search for the item and then move to the payments page and process the transaction. Consider for instance I am in transit from office to home this would be a rather difficult task to complete. However with m-commerce it becomes very simple. With a few taps of your finger you have the transaction completed.
It is extremely important to engage in m-commerce for the goods and services providers mainly because the population using mobiles and smart phones has exponentially gone up in the last 5 years. Also the GeNext prefers using transactions over mobile than over laptops/ desktops mainly for the ease of it. Not only this, having m-commerce integrated with your goods and services increases the reach of it and helps deliver better user experience. Service providers can also use m-commerce for innovative experience such as sensors placed in movie halls or super markets which interact with the mobile device to produce personalized customer experience , provide services based on location detection etc and not limit only to buying ans selling of goods
