Discuss about cloud-assisted media sharing with the help
of generic media framework:
We shall take Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud as an example
for the cloud-assisted media sharing with the help of generic media
framework.
Cloud assisted or cloud-based collaborative media sharing service makes use of media cloud technologies, web service technologies, and smartphones equipped sensors and the cloud-based collaborative media service framework or simply generic media framework. These are among the collaborative media services built for ubiquitous user access. Media sharing uses collaborative services in many areas such as healthcare, defense, education, entertainment, press, etc.
Cloud assisted media sharing provides such a service to users in terms of computations, communications, processing, collaboration, sharing, and storage. Hence, there is a booming and an ever-increasing business requirement for an IT infrastructure to offer pay-as-you-go purchase model and on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable, scalable, flexible, and reliable computing resources such as networks, storages, servers, applications, and services. Cloud computing technology is one such paradigm or infrastructure providing configurable platform supporting the collaborative and sharing media service.
Cloud assisted media sharing is efficient. The solution is a web service-based collaborative environment. The corresponding Cloud-Based Collaborative Media Service Framework of collaborative media service is used for efficient, effective, and cheaper collaboration between the media service provider and the users.
The Generic Media Framework for Interactive Television (GMF4iTV) project is a project commonly used for Interactive Television aiming to develop, demonstrate, and consisting of an end-to-end broadcasting platform providing and enabling interactivity services on heterogeneous multimedia devices such as Set-Top-Boxes (STBs), PCs, moving objects, and TV programs according to the Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) standard from DVB. This platform lets the content providers create enhanced audiovisual contents with a degree of interactivity at moving object level or shot change from a video. The end-user is then able to interact with moving objects from the video or individual shots allowing the enjoyment of additional contents associated to them such as MHP applications, HTML pages, JPEG, MPEG4 files, etc. This project technically also involves metadata and content transmission, synchronization, and signaling and bitrate allocation.
In our example of Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud, with respect to media sharing, allows business, organizations, or enterprises, content creators, providers, and streamers, to run their photos, videos, other multimedia files, and file cloud storage applications in AWS to lower costs, better time-to-market and going global in minutes, and easily scale their storage.
AWS offers its object storage service called Amazon S3, which stores hundreds of billions of objects, and is built to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web, and on any device. It offers 99.99% availability over a given year for enterprises' cloud storage business requirements. Businesses would only be required to pay for the storage they use. Also, getting started with AWS is fast with fewer steps, is also simple, easy to use and understand.
Based on the technical competencies of organizations and the complexity and size of their applications, there are many steps to choose from to adopt, provision, build their web applications and mobile applications for this purpose on AWS platform.
The benefits of using the Media Sharing service and its different usage examples with AWS are:
* Organizations using this cloud service can scale rapidly
storing billions of objects and handle millions of their
customers.
* Companies can save millions of dollars and scale to serve
billions of their data objects per month.
* They can scale storing hundreds of millions of images, adding
multiple TBs every month.
* Also, AWS offers reduced content delivery costs by 50%.
* It offers improved time-to-market and reduced management
time.
* It offers low cost with a pay-as-you-go pricing model.
* It is scalable as it can store billions of objects.
* It is durable as any and all automatic data replication is
designed providing 99.999999999% durability.
* It is secured as it uses secure and durable technology platform
with industry-recognized certifications and audits.
* It offers fast deployment time with deploying applications
without any wait for hardware to be procured and to arrive.
* It is highly available as it offers highly reliable services and
multiple fault-tolerant Availability Zones (AZs).
