Answer #1

Hole between ventricles - Ventricular septal defect.
• This defect is caused by abnormal heart development. During fetal development, muscular wall between ventricles fails to form fully and this results in this defect.

Pathophysiology of ventricular septal disease :-
• Normally, the right side of the heart pumps blood to the lungs to get oxygen and the left side pumps the oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body.
• In this defect, oxygenated blood allowed to mix with deoxygenated blood and this causes the heart to work harder to provide enough oxygen to the body's tissues.
• This results in increased pulmonary blood flow, which causes pulmonary vascular injury.
• Pulmonary vascular injury results in increased pulmonary vascular resistance and causes inverted shunt, which means now blood flow from right ventricle to left ventricle through hole.
• This condition give rise to many manifestations, which are -
• Hypoxia of body tissues- Fatigue and inability to exercise
• Heart failure
• Erythrocytosis - increased count of RBSs (Due to increased oxygen demand of tissues).
• Abnormal heart movements and rhythms - Murmur and enlarged heart.
• Fast breathing and shortness of breathing.

Why do you think some animals have a myogenic heart (self-excitable found in Vertebrates and some Mollusks like cephalopods) while others have a neurogenic heart (controlled by nerve impulses from the brain found in Annelids, and Arthropods)? Explain your reasoning. Lungfishes have a rudimentary air sac they use when their environment temporarily becomes anaerobic. How do you think their circulatory system is different from other fish? Can anyone help me do the magdeburg hemisphere question In 1654, the German scientist and inventor Otto von Guericke found that if you make a sphere out of two brass hemispheres and create a near-vacuum inside (p_w very small), it is extremely hard to pull apart the hemispheres. (Von Guericke famously demonstrated that two teams of eight horses couldn't do it!) Assuming that the hemispheres have very thin walls, so that R in the figure may be considered both the...

O A There are too few identical twins to properly do the study B Identical twins are always the same sex which distorts the findings C Identical twins studies need to be compared to studies of triplets in order to be accurate Identical twins have been treated as very similar and the extra similarity of their environment...
