Answer #1

E-commerce is defined as selling the products or services using the internet. In the next 5 years, we will be witnessing some path-breaking changes in the e-commerce sector. For instance, the customers will be able to visualize or virtually experience the product they want to buy. Also, a lot of product customization and personalization will happen in the coming future.

Two technologies that are going to shape the future of e-commerce industry:

1.

Artificial intelligence and chatbots:

AI and robots are soon to invade the e-commerce industry. The use of artificial intelligence on e-commerce platforms will enhance the overall shopping experience of the customers. The AI technology will handle multiple tasks such as customers' inquiries, managing inventory, and discussing the complaints with the customers through chatbots. Also, AI technology will enable a customer-centric search that means it will make it easy for the e-commerce industry to understand the customers' buying behavior and then recommending them the right product. It will lead to more product customization and personalized recommendation since AI technology will go deeper in enhancing the customer experience. The AI technology will also allow the e-commerce companies to solve their business challenges with ease such as lead generation and retarget potential customers.

2. Interactive product visualization:

One of the drawbacks of an e-commerce platform is lack of tactile information that means the customers cannot feel the products they want to buy. The e-commerce industry is going to deal with it in the coming future. Product visualization is going to be a reality soon. The customers will be able to visually or virtually see the products before they can make a purchase. It will be different than going through the product images in 2D formats or watching a high definition video. Augmented reality, 3D- imaging and more interaction with the product will be a reality in the next few years. The technology will provide a tangible product experience to the customers on the e-commerce platform, something that they only experience by visiting a physical store. This virtual experience would be made easy through VR handsets that the customer would wear to experience the product. It will remove the hesitation of the customers before placing an order online.
