1  Reverse Logistics - Introduction

The process of moving a commodity from its consumption to its place of origin to its recapture value or to ensure proper disposal has historically been known as reverse logistics. It is one of the fastest developing business logistics fields, and therefore the scope and significance are continually changing. Reverse logistics requires practices in order to discourage returns, to minimize future-oriented materials and minimize the influx of products and to ensure that goods and the packaging are re-used and recycled.

Reverse logistics requires the reuse of goods and services in all operations. "The process to plan, implement and monitor the efficient and cost-effective flow of raw materials, inventory in processes, finished goods, and related information for the purpose of recovery or proper disposal is the process from consumption to source. In addition, reverse Logistics is the transportation mechanism for the recovery of value or appropriate disposition of goods from their usual final destination. The reverse logistics process involves management and the disposal of surpluses, as well as returned equipment and machinery from the hardware leasing industry, and the reverse logistics process can also be used in the reverse logistics process. Logistics typically manage activities that carry the product to the consumer. By using reverse logistics, the tool takes the supply chain at least one step further. For example, products are moved from the consumer to the dealer or supplier.

If a producer's product normally passes through the supply chain network it is important to meet the manufacturer or customer. Each method or management needs reverse logistics following the sale of the product. Unless the product is faulty, the buyer must reimburse the product. The manufacturing company will then prepare to manufacture, audit, remove, restructure, recycle or sell the product. The product must go back into the supply chains network to avoid the use of the defective product. The logistics for these matters are the opposite.

2. The world before and after reverse logistics

With the implementation of sophisticated management systems, organisations 'prioritized reverse logistics process management has been identified, leading to the development of innovative process-supporting technologies. The growth is primarily focused on the telecommunications, automotive and remanufacturing markets, with a considerably shorter product life cycle, increasingly complex worldwide service networks, the mandating of sustainable processes and the normalization of customer customisation.

In other organizations, however, the Return Management System is also a low-visibility cost center of items to be properly replaced, repaired, recycled, repackaged or disposed of. The traditional logistics service providers have very few alternatives to reverse the channel; however, companies with strong, professional reverse logistics management have benefited from the development of technology:

  • Reduced rates of funding for financial, storage and aftermarket.
  • Improved market share for services.
  • Increased sustainable development objectives.
  • Improved customer satisfaction and improved retention.

In addition to simply getting the reverse logistics mechanism in place, the right technology helps shippers to gain more productive advantages by including:

  • Increased visibility of the reverse supply chain, enhanced efficiency and increased customer response.
  • A supply chain that now includes conventional, inbound logistics and reverse logistics. Inbound logistics.
  • Transparency of the network supply chain activities.
  • Data from partners and networks automated collection.
