The average speed of the body on the other hand is the speed of the whole trip.
The odometer of the car tells us about the instantaneous speed of the car whereas thee average speed of the car can be calculated by dividing the total distance by total time of motion.
Imagine a scenario in which you look at the odometer at any instant of motion and found the reading to be 50 mph. This is your instantaneous speed. You reached your destination 100 miles apart in 4 hours. Then your average velocity would be 25 mph.
