• Middle age is the period from 40s to 60s.Information processing at this age becomes slower compared to when one is younger.People begin to notice that they are not as mentally sharp as they were when they were younger.For example,when you explain your parents,how to use a particular feature on their mobile phone,it takes time for them to process it and remember it.
• Cognitive abilities,liking attention,thinking and information processing are not as good as they were in young age.
• Certain aspects of memory processing and attention tend to decline with age.Middle age adults experience greater loss of information in their cognitive system.
• Middle age people start to have increased difficulties with things like multitasking, switching attention from one task to another smoothly, and inhibition.
• For example,if a middle aged man sees a ball flying towards him,he would not be able to process and move away swiftly,trying to avoid getting hit by the ball,as a young boy of 20 would be able to do.
• In terms of attention,a middle age person,would find it difficult to use his mobile phone and work on his laptop at the same time,like how a young adult would be able to do.Multitasking becomes difficult with age.
• Middle age adults retain less information, due to decline in use of memory strategies but practicing memory processing and retention skills can improve it.
