Causes were:

Mutual Defense Alliances- Countries around the world have always made agreements with their neighbors on mutual defense, treaties that might drag them into war. This particular rebellion, primarily nationalistic and religious, led directly to Archduke Ferdinand's assassination. But more broadly, nationalism has led not only to the end, but to the expansion of the war across Europe and to Asia in many of the countries across Europe. The war became more complicated and prolonged as each nation tried to prove its superiority and strength.

Consequences were:

The First World War cost a lot of money to the participating countries. Germany and Britain spent about 60% of the money generated by their economies. Countries had to increase their citizens ' taxes and borrow money. We even printed money to buy guns and other war-related things that we wanted. This led to post-war inflation.

The whole of Europe's economy failed. Companies were forced to close when men left their employment in the army to fight. There were no jobs left for them when they returned. Many companies specialized in arms manufacturing. They had nothing to offer after the war. During the war, more than before, governments dominated the economy.
