The ministry of Elijah and Elisha in the Old Testament foreshadowed the ministry of Jesus in the New Testament. The way Elijah and Elisha did their work had similarities with that of Jesus ministry in this world. Elijah and Elisha called the king and the people of Israel al back to the covenant loyalty with their God. They were powerful messengers of God and they did their assigned work with all dedication no matter who were against them. They worked miracles, they healed the sick, they brought back dead to life, they worked among the poor and weary, all these bear resemblance with the Christ's ministry in this world. He called out the people to repent for their sins, performed many miracles, healed the sick, brought dead back to life and worked among the poor and weary. Similarly, Christ stood for his cause, gave up his life for the salvation of humankind though the powerful was against him and was alone at the Cross.
