Answer #1

A mental event happens within the mind , example include thoughts, feelings, decisions etc..

A physical event includes playing, running, eating etc..

Some feel that mental and physical events are inter dependent and contains similar properties which is called as Substance monism, Some people says that mental and physical events are fundamentally different and independent which is called as dualism..It is obvious that mental events cause physical events and vice versa..

For example : It we feel hunger then we take food here feeling hunger is an emotion of brain and taking food is a physical activity..

Similarly, if we writes exam well then we feel very happy here writing is a physical activity and feeling happy is an emotion of brain....

Some problems of relationship between physical and mental events:-

The ontological question

The casual question

The problem of consciousness

The problem of intentionality

The problem of embodiment

The problem of the self..

Question 2 :-

In monism , physical things are based on mind..

In dualism, physical and mental events are independent..

Example:- Dualists believe in existence of both good and bad, god and devil which are two different forces
