Imagine the following scenario. A school where you are employed uses very specific behavior management strategies with which you do not agree (for instance, asking a child to stand in the corner and face the wall for an extended period of time for speaking out of turn). What might you do in this situation? How might you handle this situation with students, parents, and the administration/staff? What theories/research support how you address this situation?

We should never agree to the fact that all the rules are best and need to be followed diligently till the end. Sometimes it is also suggested to raise the voice against something we feel is incorrect and needs to be modified. For instance in this case asking a child to stand in the corner and face the wall for an extended period of time for speaking out of turn. We should rather devise a better way of making the child realize his mistake. This attitude will instill feeling of shame in the child and he will not be able to listen to the remaining lecture. We need to devise sweet and efficient ways to tame teh innocent minds of the children who are very sensitive to these things. If i were in situation, i would have asked the kid to watch his conduct next time and give each person time to speak and wait patiently for his turn to come. It is very important to instill virtues of patience in children form the young age. We need to educate the staff to treat children with utmost care and concern and avoid engaging in activities that impact their mind. We need to care for them and try fit in their shoes to understand the problem better. If we try to be soft with them and explain our point, they will understand it better.
