1. What is the purpose of design of experiments?
Design of experiments (DOE) is a systematic, rigorous approach to engineering problem-solving that applies principles and techniques at the data collection stage so as to ensure the generation of valid, defensible, and supportable engineering conclusions. Design of Experiments (DOE) is a branch of applied statistics focused on using the scientific method for planning, conducting, analyzing and interpreting data from controlled tests or experiments.
DOE allows the experimenter to manipulate multiple inputs to determine their effect on the output of the experiment or process. By performing a multi-factorial or “full-factorial” experiment, DOE can reveal critical interactions that are often missed when performing a single or “fractional factorial” experiment. By properly utilizing DOE methodology, the number of trial builds or test runs can be greatly reduced.
A common use is planning an experiment to gather data to make a decision between two or more alternatives.
ch as starvation. GF gene expression of SK 1) Design the experiments how you would carry out this study. Use experiments we did in class. Starting step is growing the cells. (2 points) 2) What can you conclude from the following data? (1 poiny VEGF GAPDH Serum-free Serum
3) Look at the image below that represents Asch's conformity experiments 3 Asch's Conformity Experiments il The operate The confederate The parti Imagine YOU are the experimenter (instead of Asch). You conduct a conformity experiment. When you design your experiment, do NOT use LINES. a) Design YOUR experiment (Write the scenario) b) Write the purpose of YOUR study. c) Clarify the participant in YOUR study d) Clarify the confederates in YOUR study
In a single-group design in which treatments are alternated (ABAB design), what is the purpose of conducting multiple initial observations before any treatment is given? 1. pretest researcher assumptions about the study sample 2. establish a baseline for comparison post-treatment 3. establish which group gets the initial “A” treatment 4. to gather information for modifying the treatment
When performing immunocytochemistry experiments, what is the purpose of the blocking serum? If you only had access to normal mouse serum, from what species would your primary and secondary antibodies need to be derived? Is it possible to fluorescently label two different proteins in the same cell using the same immunocytochemistry techniques? If so, what considerations would you need to make for your primary and secondary antibodies? Is it correct that the primary and secondary antibodies have to be from...
Design the following experiments if possible. (1) A BIBD with 5 treatments, 4 blocks, 3 treatments per block. (2) A BIBD with 6 treatments, 4 blocks, 3 treatments per block (3) A BIBD with 5 treatments, X blocks, 3 treatments per block (For this question, you 4. must first give an appropriate value for X).
Design, describe, and perform two more experiments in which the object does not move in the direction of the unbalanced force. Draw a motion diagram and a force diagram for each experiment.
Design a series of experiments to test whether a chemical drug induces cell death through intrinsic apoptotic pathway.
a. What is the purpose of lateral ties in a column? b. In shear wall design, requirements related to shear resistance are specified in TMS 402 Section 7.3.2.6.1.1. (shown below) Explain why the "code" stipulates these requirements. When designing special reinforced masonry shear walls to resist in-plane forces in accordance with Section 9.3, the design shear strength, ¢ Vn, shall exceed the shear corresponding to the development of 1.25 times the nominal flexural strength Mn, of the element, except that...
1) Distinguish between field experiments and a laboratory experiments outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each type of experiment. (8 marks) 2)Explain how interviews are used differently in qualitative and quantitative studies (8 marks) 3) Explain the approach to mixed methods that a researcher might use if they want to design a questionnaire. Outline how the approach will assist in designing a questionnaire. (8 marks) PLEASE DONT COPY OTHERS ANSWER.. AND PLEASE ANSWER ACCORDING TO THE MARKS. THANKS IN ADVANCE
