6) Laminar composites:
These are laminated materials which are generally a series of sheets or panels constructed in such a way that the final sheet will have relatively high strength in virtually all directions within the plane of the laminate. They are attached with each other and cemented which provides and increases the strengths after each layers. Plywoods made laminated by the layers of thin woods with the help of proper glue.
Reason for fabricating:
They are often fabricated to change their appearances and their properties.Fabricating includes coatings, protective surfaces, claddings, bimetallics etc. The prime reason for fabricating these materials is to produce structures having high in-plane strengths, high shear rigidities, and low densities.
(6) Briefly describe laminar composites. What is the prime reason for fabricating these materials?
Need help with the learning objectives for this chapter! The book is Materials Science and Engineering An Introduction,9th Edition by William D., Jr. Callister and David G. Rethwisch . Learning Objectives After studying this chapter, you should be able to do the following: 1. Name the four main divisions of composite 5. Compute longitudinal strengths for discontinu- ous and aligned fibrous composite materials materials and cite the distinguishing feature of each. 6. Note the three common fiber reinforcements 2. Cite...
